I'm Sarah K., the breeder behind Petite Pups located in Dayton, OH. I'm a hobby breeder. I do it because I love the breed and LOVE babies and puppies. These are my family members first and foremost! I want to make the transition from my loving home to yours as seamless as possible by giving personal attention to each little pup to ensure it is well-rounded and prepared to excel in its forever home.
Q. & A. with Sarah
Why did you start breeding?
My journey into breeding began with my very first female chihuahua — she completely changed how I saw the breed. She wasn’t anything like the nervous or timid stereotype people often associate with chihuahuas. She was confident, loving, and had the most wonderful temperament. I fell in love with her personality so deeply that I found myself wanting more just like her.
I’ve always had a soft spot for babies of any kind, and breeding became a natural extension of that love. Being able to raise puppies with care, intention, and love has been such a fulfilling experience. From the very first litter, I was hooked! Breeding has given me the chance to continue my passion and share the joy these amazing little dogs bring into my life with others.
What makes your program special?
What makes my breeding program special is the intentional, hands-on care each puppy receives from the very beginning. I follow the “Super Dog” program (also known as Biosensor training) during days 3–16 of life, which has been shown to support stronger cardiovascular and adrenal health, better stress tolerance, and overall resilience. Beyond that, my puppies are raised right in the heart of our home — loved on daily by myself, my five children, and a circle of friends and neighbors. They are well-socialized, confident, and go home ready to be joyful, adaptable companions. After over a decade of experience, I’ve seen the difference this approach makes — my puppies don’t leave here timid or unsure; they leave ready to take on the world.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have long coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Blue, dad
Chihuahua
About Blue
Blue is my heart dog — the goodest boy through and through. He’s a bit larger than the typical AKC standard, but to me, he’s absolute perfection. Blue is my adventure buddy and loyal sidekick, always ready to hit the trails, splash through creeks, or chase a good stick. He’s off-leash trained, incredibly obedient, and has one of the best temperaments I’ve ever seen. With his striking blue merle coat and perfect head shape, he’s as handsome as he is sweet. Blue isn’t just part of our breeding program — he’s family.

Daisy, mom
Chihuahua
About Daisy
Daisy is the heart of our program. She was truly born to be a mama — calm, nurturing, and endlessly patient. Her silky, chocolate-and-white coat is as soft as her temperament. Daisy adores her puppies and even helps care for others’, always gentle and attentive. She’s happiest stretched out for a good belly rub or quietly keeping an eye on the nursery. Her litters consistently reflect her steady, loving nature and that signature soft coat we love so much.

Sarah is an incredible breeder, and we are beyond thrilled with our sweet Brownie Cocoa. She is loving, kind, and absolutely hilarious, bringing joy and laughter to everyone she meets. You can tell Sarah poured her heart into raising her puppies because Brownie has the most wonderful temperament. We are so grateful to have this little bundle of love in our lives thanks to Sarah.

I have purchased from two different litters of Sarah’s puppies and each of them are the most well mannered and sweetest chihuahuas. These dogs are cared for inside a loving home with small children, which helps with their socialization early on, they love our kids! Our dogs are healthy without any issues two years out from adoption. Sarah has been so easy to work with and she is an excellent communicator. You can not go wrong with this responsible breeder. I highly recommend Petite Pups.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
