I'm the breeder behind Platzhirsch German Shepards located in Kansas City, MO. We just adore this breed and can't wait to share our love for them with you! We are passionate breeders and are dedicated to maintaining responsible breeding practices. We do all that we can to make sure our pups get the best care and go to the best homes!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My first working dog was a Doberman in 1988. In 1995 I started training and trialing Rottweilers placing 3rd in the 1997 Rottweiler National Specialty Show. Since purchasing and importing our first pink papered German Shepard, we simply fell in love with the breed. We have imported the best working lines of German Shepards from Germany, Italy and Slovakia. Platzhirsch meaning (Top Dog).
  • What makes your program special?

    We breed for health, temperament, strong working lines. Pet, Companion Dog, Police K-9, Protection, Security. Contact us today we have the right puppy for you!
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, black and tan, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Todd

Todd has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $4,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes AKC papers, puppy shots and de-worming along with a 24 month health guarantee. Platzhirsch Kennel puppies have been raised in our home. A deposit will guarantee a Male or Female puppy from Platzhirsch German Shepards. Puppies are sold on a first deposit basis.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Breeder-Reported Testing

Excellent level

Platzhirsch German Shepards reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
