I'm Lauri W., the breeder behind Pleasant Prairie Farms located in Spokane, WA. We are on our 4th generation of Westies and all have such wonderful personalities, such sweet temperaments and great dispositions. They are curious, attentive, intelligent, communicative, interactive and we call them little humans in fur. They are great with our grandchildren and the other animals on our farm. Along with the daily joy they bring, it's these traits that make them so special. They are actual members of the family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got into breeding Westies particularly because I understand as well as anyone that Westies are a breed that is difficult to find, particularly in the upper PNW and INW and the temperament and disposition of our Westies are something special worth sharing. We'd like others to enjoy the delight we have found in this breed and the joy they bring to our lives.

  • What makes your program special?

    In an effort to keep our lines healthier, provide longer lives for our beloved dogs & avoid the genetic bottleneck of many areas, we have adopted our breeding dogs from all over the US. All are DNA tested. We don't have outdoor kennels so puppies are socialized to us, grandkids & other animals from birth. Purchasers are informed at least weekly with updates on development & photos until delivery. I am an absolutely horrible puparazzi.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Lauri

Lauri has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"All of our puppies are sold with pre-paid limited AKC registrations to be completed by purchasers at their convenience, are provided vet check, first shots, dewormer and socialization. After the new puppy owner pays a reservation fee, they will be updated every week on their puppy's progress until the puppy's pickup date. Keeping people updated is one of the most fun things of this process. Until pickup, of course! $500 hold fee means we hold your puppy until time of delivery. Balance due at time of delivery which would be no sooner than when puppy is 8 weeks old and no later than 10 weeks old. Once a hold fee is paid, puppies are removed from marketing so hold fees become non-refundable."

Lauri may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     Having owned 5 Westies and with #5 about to turn 17 we decided it was time to search for #6. Finding a reputable breeder is quite a challenge but someone told us to check out the Good Dog site and that advice led us thankfully to Pleasant Prairie Farms Westies and its owner/breeder Lauri. Our timing was right as a 3 pup litter was just born and we reserved the only male “Murphy”. Throughout the 8 week waiting period Lauri sent us pictures and informational updates of his interaction with siblings, parents and learning in general. Murphy is now a part of our family and an absolute joy. He’s smart, knows his name, comfortable with our 17 yr old Westie and 9 yr old Wheaton terrier, very friendly with children and adults plus easy to train.     Laura responded quickly to my inquiries about a puppy. She shared the health history and DNA testing results of the parents of her litters and helped me select the best puppy for our home, one that would adapt most readily to our older dogs.     Absolutely Wonderful Experience – Highly Recommend Lauri! I had an amazing experience working with Lauri and can’t speak highly enough about her. From the very beginning, she was incredibly sweet, responsive, and knowledgeable. She kept me updated with regular photos and videos of the puppies, which made the wait so much more exciting and reassuring. Lauri answered all of my questions (and I had a lot!) with patience and care. It was clear from every interaction that she truly loves what she does and genuinely cares for her puppies and the Westie breed.
