I'm the breeder behind Point to Point West located in Rockville, IN. My wife April & I take great pride in our breeding. We breed for health temperaments & longevity. We welcome responsible buyers to come meet us, see how we raise them & meet our crew. We stay in contact with all buyers as they become part of the PTPW family.
Q. & A. with John
Why did you start breeding?
I ran a Duck Hunting Outfitting business for years and I strive to produce the best hunting dogs I possibly can.
What makes your program special?
When you buy a pup from us you become part of a family. If you need training advice, we are a phone call away. If you hunt you will be invited on hunting trips we take with the dogs. We are with our dogs 24-7 and they are part of our family! Our dogs are from pedigrees with the highest Pointing Lab and hunting awards. The Shepherds are imports and have both show and working lines. My Labradors worked for me in my guiding business and retrieved thousands of birds in their careers. They are the baseline for our breeding. These pups not only have excellent trainability, but they also know how to turn off the switch and be great companions in your home. If you don’t hunt they will be just as happy spending time with you throwing a ball, frisbee, or whatever. We give a 2 year health guarantee for health defects. if you have any questions feel free to ask. We will always ask for updates and pictures of your pup. We want you to feel comfortable buying a dog from us.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
German Shepherd puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Labrador Retriever puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. German Shepherd puppies are black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent dogs
River, mom
Labrador Retriever
About River
River has some outstanding dogs in her pedigree and it shows both in her disposition and trainability. She is a fun loving dog that loves to retrieve. she will also snuggle up to you and keep you warm. River loves to please and although she has only hunted a few times she pointed strong in training and did well for her first few duck hunts. She was an amazing mother to our Ruger and continues to be a joy to have around.
Stormy, mom
Labrador Retriever
About Stormy
Stormy also comes from a line of 4x Grandmaster Pointing Labs. They also have many AKC Hunt test titles.
Stormy worked for my duck hunting guide business and was an awesome die hard retriever. She would never give up on cripples and would not quit until she got her duck, sometimes swimming more than a mile in frigid water. One word to describe her and it is DIEHARD! Stormy was also a great pointing lab in the upland pheasant and Chukar hunting. She is still extremely athletic in retirement. Stormy always has a ball when outside, waiting for you to throw it.
Ripley, mom
Labrador Retriever
About Ripley
I can not say enough about Ripley. She is the fastest lab I have ever owned and that says a lot. She is the perfect example of an athletic dog. Rip’s pedigree contains some of the best dogs around. Her sire’s side contains National Field Champions and Field Champions all the way up the ladder. Her sire also is a Grand Hunting Retriever Champion in HRC and a Grand Master Pointing Retriever. Her Dam’s side has Pointing Retriever titles and AKC titles all the way up her side of the ladder. Some of those titles 4X Grand Master Pointing Retrievers and Master Hunters. There are some very famous dogs in her pedigree from years past. Ripley is easily trainable and all business. She can also turn it off in the house.
Mako, dad
Labrador Retriever
About Mako
"MAKO"
Mako comes from a line of 4x Grandmaster Pointing Labs. They also have many AKC Hunt test titles.
Mako worked for my duck hunting guide business and was a superstar. He would chase down cripples and even dive under water to retrieve them. One word to describe him is MACHINE! He is still active on our retirement home in Indiana. He is the sire to our Ruger.
Ruger, dad
Labrador Retriever
About Ruger
Ruger is out of the Mako x River litter. Ruger's pedigree is outstanding with 4x Grand Master Pointing Retrievers on both sides. He is a happy boy that loves to retrieve. He has a proud prance and reminds me of a stallion. He is cleared for many genetic diseases through his pedigree testing.
