Meet the breeder

I'm Luz M., the breeder behind Pointer Mountain Bird Dogs located in Dahlonega, GA. We breed to preserve the unique characteristics of GSPs while considering a variety of traits, like build, coloring, conformation, and temperament. We emphasize proper socialization and ENS training of our puppies, and promote responsible dog ownership. We hold both Gooddog Responsible Breeder and AKC Breeder of HEART distinctions. I am a health professional and husband is a fireman. The overall health of our puppies is taken seriously. We will answer your questions and take you step by step if you need extra guidance. We will also keep your puppy after 8 weeks (up to 12 weeks) if requested and continue vet care and socialization and training for an extra fee. We now offer one on one obedience training and all you can need packages as an added service. Contact for more information on the ALL INCLUSIVE PROGRAM. Deposit required and balance is paid in installments.

Q. & A. with Luz

  • Why did you start breeding?

We own 13 GSPs ourselves (many titled pedigrees and hunting lines) and we are passionate to share our puppies. We take education on the breed seriously, enrolling in AKC and Canine Biology courses, hold Breeder of HEART status with AKC and Responsible Breeder status with Gooddog and understand the difference Biosensory training and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) offers to a puppy.
  • What makes your program special?

We are passionate about Biosensory Training (ENS) and perform it in all our puppies. Our puppies are less susceptible to illness, are better athletes and more adapt to environmental changes than others. Also, because they are handled from 3 days old, they are not shy or easily spooked.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and liver, black and white, liver, liver roan, liver and white, black roan, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

I couldn't have picked a better breeder!! Luz has been the best through all of it. She's very informative and on top of all her animals and their healthcare. I'm a first time owner of a dog purchased from a breeder. I was very nervous about the whole experience but knowing that Luz stays so well-informed and offers advice even after you take your puppy home, really helped me. I couldn't have asked for a better first time experience and I hope to work with Luz again in the future.

Luz was amazing i can’t recommend her enough she’s so educated with this breed!!! We got our lovely lady May from them… not only did she know her name when we picked her up she was so attentive and friendly!!! I would 100% come back to them for another pointer in the future!!! the communication with us was amazing!!! every couple days she would send update to us with anything that was happening and many photos and videos !!!! We felt so involved💕 you can tell they truly love GSP’s with their whole hearts and everything that comes with them!!! 💕💕

My experience with Luz was an amazing experience. She had perfect communication throughout the whole process. I received ultrasound pictures and pictures immediately after birth. She answered any questions I had and was very transparent throughout which is very important when adopting. We got pictures and videos of the puppies before we got to come pick one out. After we picked we continued to receive multiple pictures and videos of our baby until pick up time. At pick up we received a goodie bag that was full of such kind things. Luz still checks in with my puppy to this day and she’s over a year old! She will forever be apart of Sadie’s life because she genuinely cares on who her puppies go to.

Luz and Pointer Mountain Bird Dogs exceeded our wildest dreams for providing us with the perfect purebred German Shorthaired Pointer puppy! Charlie, the girl (fans of the original “Top Gun” will get it), is doing such a wonderful job of adapting to our family at just 9 weeks of age tomorrow. Luz accommodated us with a brief visit on her 4 week birthday and that was greatly appreciated. We could already see what a wonderful job she does with her litters. The ENS training was evident then and is even more so now. She was well cared-for by PMBD, as was attested by our Vet in a routine visit two days after we picked her up. Charlie’s AKC registration went perfectly smoothly and her paperwork arrived in about 3 days. Luz has always been very helpful and responsive to any and all questions we’ve had, whether they be puppy or AKC in nature. If you are looking for a great GSP puppy raised by a caring Breeder, we give Pointer Mountain Bird Dogs our absolute highest recommendation. Thank you Luz and Bob for our new family member. When we had to put our 14+ year old GSP to sleep this past September, we never thought there’d be another one EVER to steal our hearts in the way she did, but PMBD has provided us with her beloved successor.
