Meet the breeder

I'm Cheryl B., the breeder behind Ponderosa Leonbergers located in Athol, ID. Our dogs are part of our family and all of our puppies are raised in a home environment with socialization as a focus as well as potty training.

Q. & A. with Cheryl

  • Why did you start breeding?

My first Chinook was a female and breeding her was part of my contract. I fell in love with the process and the rest is history. That was 26 years ago. I love exploring pedigrees and researching health while keeping structure and temperament at the forefront of my breedings.
  • What makes your program special?

I focus on quality rather than quantity when breeding litters. My breeding goals are exceptional dogs that make great family pets as well as other venues.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are reddish brown. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
