I'm Sara Kempton & A., the breeder behind Poppying Up Puppies located in Calhan, CO. We began with a desire to breed puppies with traits suitable to become emotional support companions. We chose this path specifically because we wanted some of our young family members to have the benefit of a canine best friend to turn to as they weathered their emotional struggles.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    At this time, we are hobby breeders. Our program consists of my sister's cavalier Poppy and my poodle Rufus. We wanted to breed Poppy with a poodle because of each of their breed traits. We hoped for possible hypo-allergenic puppies with emotional support traits. We've loved the results!

  • What makes your program special?

    Our program is small and it has purpose. Our dogs are family. They live with us and we know them. We want our puppies to find their best homes and their best lives.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include merle, red, black and tan, black and white, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

A non-refundable deposit is necessary to put a hold on a puppy. Deposits are transferable to a different puppy or litter.”

    I had a great experience working with Sarah. She was very prompt in her responses and always took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly, which I really appreciate. One of the highlights was her willingness to meet me halfway for the pickup, which made the process so much more convenient. She also helped contact Gooddog to help with an issue regarding an extra charge. The only thing I would note is that the puppy did not have all of the recommended vaccinations at the time of exchange. It’s something to be aware of so you can plan a vet visit accordingly. Ask a lot of questions if you think the website has explained it as it may not be as accurate as you think. (I.e. up to date on vaccinations) Overall, the process was smooth and professional, and I’m very happy with my new puppy!

    I learned about Sara's puppy breeding business through a mutual friend of ours. We had learned that a new litter had been born, but we weren't quite ready to add to our family yet. But when my birthday came around, I knew the time was right to adopt the 6 month Cavapoo puppy for myself and my family. My one year old daughter loves dogs, and I didn't want her to grow up without a fur baby for her to love. On the day we visited Sara and her puppies, (my birthday,) she let us take the lead. We wanted to see clean dogs, and these were freshly cleaned. She showed us the puppies one at a time, and then collectively. We observed how she played outside, and with other puppies, and children. The process of scheduling a visit was easier than anything, and she accommodated our busy schedule. We spent all the time we needed, making sure that we weren't rushed into a decision we were going to regret. Not only was Sara very responsive, she was able to give us as much information about the animals as we had requested. It was a breeze working with her, and she gave us an affordable rate. Sara is very kind and appreciates each and every inquiry. Before receiving our new addition, she had the puppy groomed, which was a nice relief for my wife. Because I live nearby, Sara was able to deliver Anna to our home later that night, as the cherry on top of a very awesome birthday. Anna is so cute, and my kids instantly fell in love with her. Anna has adjusted well to her new home, and we are so blessed to have her by our side and in our hearts. I'd highly recommend booking an appointment with Sara, as you will be pleased with her level of care and compassion for her customers and the puppies.

    We had an amazing experience adopting our Cavapoo Nikki (now named Cookie!) from Sara. She was an amazing communicator. She was extremely patient with our process and took ample time to answer all of my questions. Cookie came to us house trained, crate trained and completely socialized. My 3 kids absolutely love him and he loves them already after only 2 days in our home. He is an INCREDIBLE dog with a fabulous temperament. Anyone wanting a cavapoo should highly consider Sara's dogs. Sara was very organized and thorough in the business side of things and at the same time she was so caring about her pup's experience in finding the right home and helping us find the dog that was meant to be with us and would fit well with our family. I Just cannot say enough wonderful things. We were a little hesitant at the beginning about adopting him at 6 months old rather than as a younger puppy but honestly it ended up being a gift! It was like all the hard work was done for us and he bonded with us right away. You will be making a wonderful decision to adopt a dog from Sara.

    It was a real pleasure working with Sara of Poppying Up Puppies from beginning to end! She responded quickly to my request to set up a meeting and was willing to bring 3 different puppies for us to chose from. Sara went above and beyond in so many ways which enabled us to bring home a sweet Cavapoo puppy named, Quilo. She even went out of her way to deliver the dog to our home, which made the transition an easy one on the dog. It's obvious how much she truly loves her dogs and finds great satisfaction in placing them in loving homes. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Cavapoo!
