I'm Melissa P., the breeder behind Porchlight Puppies located in Madison, GA. Our Doodles are raised inside our home, not in kennels - alongside kids, noise, and real life. We focus on health, socialization, and temperament to make puppies that are soft, silly, snuggly, and easy to live with - even for first-time dog owners.

These boys are already learning that a crate isn’t a punishment. It’s their little bedroom. Their “do not disturb” suite. And yes… we start this before they ever leave us. On purpose. Because here’s the thing - puppies don’t magically know how to settle themselves. They don’t wake up at eight weeks old thinking, “You know what would be responsible? Self-regulation.” 😆 They’re babies. Sweet ones. But babies! Crate training, when done right, creates security. Structure. A safe place to exhale. And it makes that first week in their new home a whole lot smoother. Fewer accidents. Fewer panicked nights. Fewer “what have we done??” moments at 2am. But don’t worry - we’re not tossing them in and calling it character building. We keep it short. Positive. Cozy. Warm blankets. Familiar smells. Gentle routine. Because sending a puppy home completely unprepared might be easier in the short term… but that’s not how we do things around here. We raise them with intention. And maybe just a little Southern common sense. 💛

Socialization is the name of the game this week! Positive interactions with others in the household help teach the pups that kids and other dogs are friends. 💛

Sweet chubby boys are always sleeping like this! Spanky always has his head on top of Alfalfa - Alfie must be a comfortable pillow! No eyes open yet, but we’re anxiously awaiting it any day now.

Precious boys 🥺 we are soaking in the puppy snuggles over here and loving every minute of it! Spanky is the pup on top - he is the larger of the two and has several large apricot patches on his body with a mostly white face. Alfalfa is a smidge smaller than Spanky, and he has smaller dark red spots on his sides, face, and ears (just like his daddy!). Not sure about coats or temperaments yet… they are just adorable little potatoes at this stage 😅 Remember to follow us on FB / IG @PorchlightPuppies to stay up to date on all the latest news! ——————————— (“Little Rascals” litter; multigen Golden Cavapoos; DOB 01.04.26)

Wiley and Darla's litter

First, the quick scoop: Darla had just two beautiful little boys - healthy, strong, but not the big litter we’d all been hoping for! Both pups are white with red spots like their dad Wiley (and adorable, if I do say so myself). Here’s what you need to know: 1️⃣ Availability & Deposits: We will have at least one puppy available from this litter, possibly both, but we may keep one for our program depending on how they mature. No deposits will be accepted until the boys are at least two weeks old, so we can make sure everyone is thriving. At that time, we’ll accept ONE deposit and then reevaluate at 6 weeks to see if the second pup will also be available. 2️⃣ Coat & Hypoallergenic Info: These boys may or may not be hypoallergenic - it all depends on how their genetics play out as they grow. If you need a guaranteed hypoallergenic pup, we are breeding Wiley to Fiona this week. That litter will be 90% poodle, 10% Cavalier, all furnished, and fully hypoallergenic. 3️⃣ Size & Personality: Darla’s pups should mature in the 15-25 lb range, probably on the larger end. They’re expected to be moderately active, with a good off-switch, and more toy-focused than food-focused - perfect for families wanting a sturdy, playful companion. 4️⃣ “Tiny Darla” Hope Isn’t Lost: We absolutely plan to pair Wiley and Darla again - this was both their first time as parents, and we hope this was just a fluke. If you’re set on a “mini golden” like Darla, don’t give up! Sometimes being a dog breeder means rolling with the surprises, even when things don’t go as planned.

About Fiona
Fiona is a female Poodle over 1 year old. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Melissa decided to make her part of their program. Melissa has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Cavapoo
About Wiley
Wiley is our pint-sized F1B Cavapoo stud at just 11 lbs - though he’s so sturdy and solid, you’d swear he’s bigger! He’s Embark DNA tested and carries only one copy of furnishings. That might sound technical, but it’s actually a huge advantage: when paired with the right female (like our Darla), Wiley will produce a 50/50 mix of “bearded doodle faces” and smooth-coated pups, giving our puppy families more variety in both look and coat type. Wiley is a happy, high-energy little guy who loves to play hard and then crash just as hard. He’s always up for a game or a romp, and he has plenty to say about it - this boy is vocal, and we expect he'll pass along plenty of “personality” to his offspring. While he can be shy with new people, once he’s comfortable he’s affectionate, bouncy, and loves to be snuggled. We expect Wiley’s future puppies to bring that same sturdy build, soft low-shedding coats, and lively temperament - perfect for active families who want a small dog with a big presence. With the right balance of activity and love, we believe his puppies will grow into confident, cuddly companions who thrive in busy households.

Goldendoodle
About Darla
Darla is our sweet, flat-coated Mini Goldendoodle - though DNA testing revealed she’s actually about 87% Poodle, wrapped in the package of a “mini golden.” At 25 lbs, she’s the perfect small-to-medium (“smedium”) size for families who want a dog that’s easy to handle but not too delicate. Darla carries one copy of the curl gene and has a soft, low-shedding coat. She’s a quiet, gentle soul who loves nothing more than being held, snuggled, and toted around like a baby. With her family, she’s affectionate and loyal; with strangers, she’s a little shy at first but warms up sweetly. She’s dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and a true people dog at heart. When she’s not curled up in your lap, you’ll find Darla zooming around the house with a stuffie in her mouth - she absolutely loves toys and has a goofy, playful side that comes out in full force during playtime. Darla hasn’t had puppies yet, but we expect her future litters to carry her best qualities: a soft, manageable coat, a steady and affectionate temperament, and that perfect balance of cuddle and play.

Poodle
About Chance
Chance is our CKC-registered miniature poodle stud. He’s Embark DNA tested and clear of all breed-relevant conditions, with one copy of IVDD/CDDY. His coat is F/F and +/+ for curl, which means every one of his puppies will have that classic soft, wavy or curly Doodle look. Chance is shy and gentle by nature - he doesn’t rush into new friendships, but if you give him a minute to warm up, he’ll be your loyal shadow (and your personal face washer)!
Excellent health testing

Companion Cross
About Georgia
Georgia is a Beaglier - a Cavalier x Beagle cross - though GoodDog calls her a “Companion Cross” (because apparently “perfect dog” wasn’t an option 🙃). She’s the full package: happy, healthy, outgoing, and endlessly friendly. Georgia loves kids, car rides, new people, and every adventure life throws at her. She doesn’t chew, dig, bark, or cause trouble - and while her resting sad face says “melancholy,” her actual personality is pure wiggles and sunshine. We intentionally chose a Beagle mix for her strong health and sturdy build - traits that help balance the sweetness and sensitivity of the Cavalier breed. Georgia brings the best of both worlds, and her puppies are no exception.

Melissa made my experience with Jasper (fks Spanky) an absolute joyful experience. My new little companion is healthy, happy and handsome as can be. Melissa provided updates on his progress and made the transition to my house stress free. I would love to work with her again.
