I'm Katie V., the breeder behind Pordr Corgis located in Beaverton, OR. We believe Pembrokes make wonderful family pets, and want to bring high-quality pups into this world. We put a great deal of effort into raising our litters to ensure our puppy families will have the best experience raising their new family members.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We really feel that Pembroke Corgis are an ideal intersection between the smaller dog size, the intelligence of herding dogs, and the durability of big dogs. We noticed that there were few breeders nearby, and wanted to fill that gap so people in our are would have access to healthy and happy pups, just like we have.

  • What makes your program special?

    We follow current best practices for raising healthy dogs, including genetic testing to screen for hereditary issues and age appropriate medical evaluations. We also believe in not doing unnecessary body modifications, so we do NOT remove tails or dew claws (unless medically indicated) from our pups.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include white and fawn, fawn, white and red, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Katie

Katie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Katie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“As the puppies mature and their initial personalities emerge (who's an extravert, who's lazy, who likes to boss the others around), we take note. During the application process, we will discuss the puppies' traits and what the new owner is looking for. While potential matches can be done during this stage, we hold off on a final pairing until we can meet in person and see how things go.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $200 non-refundable deposit and between $1,400 - $1,800 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Pricing includes microchipping, up-to-date vaccinations, deworming and early socialization. Deposit applies to the final cost. This will cover costs between time of commitment and pick-up (whether that is a couple days or a couple weeks).”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.     Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I adopted "Captain Jack" now named Happy. Captain Jack was returned after the original owner realized they were not able to handle a puppy after their older dog had past so we got him a little later than you normally get puppies normally around 8 weeks but we got him when he was around 4 months old. I will say that Katie was extremely kind, knowledgeable and truly cares about their dogs. When we went to go meet with her and her family and meet Captain Jack (now named Happy) they were so welcoming and were patient with all our questions and gave us everything we needed to know about taking care of a puppy, a corgi and was willing to help as much as they can to make sure their puppies were going to a good home. They also sent us home with some of his food, a blanket with his siblings/mothers smells and some toys he enjoyed. When we met we discussed how they got into breeding corgis and their philosophy when doing so. They don't doc the tails which I really appreciate, personally I don't think its right to do so unless they are going to be working dogs or show dogs. I understand it is part of the standard for the breed but I think they look better with their tails. When talking with Katie they discussed how they are breeding not for show dogs but for happy and healthy family dogs and that's why they don't do it. I appreciate that. Even though they may not be breeding for show dogs they still take health and breeding very seriously and when picking up happy we were given all of his history as well as their mothers and fathers. We were able the parents too. It was evident in their home that the dogs live there and that it is their home as much as Katie and her family. Happy is now almost 2 years old and I will say he lives up to his name. He is a very happy boy, he is serious, and honestly the most brave dog I have ever met. He loves to play chase and tug the most but will also play fetch when he is feeling like it. He loves pillows and blankest and loves nothing more than to make a nest in the middle of the bed with my wife and I's blankets when we are trying to sleep. He loves to explore and go on adventures but doesn't mind staying home and playing and lounging around the house. He is very healthy and loves to run and play. He is extremely lovable and enjoys to cuddle and play. He is also the smartest dog I have ever seen. He solves puzzle toys or figures out how to get into anything he sets his mind too. I will say that he is an amazing dog and I love him so very much. I will be going back to Katie again to hopefully get him a playmate soon.

    Katie and Dan were fantastic to work with. In the beginning, I wasn't really looking seriously for a puppy, but WAS on the hunt for a breeder I could trust. Everything on their profile is 100% accurate. They love their sire and dams and treat them exceptionally well. The dogs (and their offspring) are valued members of the family and cared for extraordinarily. Katie and Dan are ethical, responsive, and honest. While I am a veteran Corgi owner, I hadn't had a puppy for nearly 20 years and had lots of questions. Katie always replied within hours (usually faster) and answered my questions patiently and completely. Latte, whose grown up name is Cai, is a joy. He is smart, healthy, and growing like crazy. He has that Pembroke Corgi twinkle in his eye, and the Pembroke Corgi swagger in his step. My vet was very impressed with Cai's conformation, health, and vitality. Because of Katie and Dan's breeding program, I know he is clear of genetic conditions that would shorten his life and/or make it painful and difficult. They gave him an excellent start. When I begin looking for another puppy someday, I will start with Pordr Corgis. Until then, I will happily and fully recommend Katie and Dan to others.

    Katie was wonderful to work with. She was very accommodating agreeing to meet at a destination that saved me a lot of driving and brought several puppies for me to choose from. The fact that she tested her breeding pair of parents for genetic diseases shows me she really cares about the health of the puppies she breeds. Her knowledge of her pups helped me find just the right fit for my household. She made great strides in getting the house training started for the puppies, which helped tremendously. The puppy I chose settled in right away, was a healthy, happy, and confident boy.
