I'm Jennifer E., the breeder behind Powderhound Alaskan Malamutes located in Wisconsin. We’re so excited to be able to help families experience the longtime loyalty of welcoming a new puppy into their lives! We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!

Why did you start breeding?
I never intended to be a breeder but my favorite breeder planned to retire and I didn't want to see these dogs disappear. I bred my first litter in 2005. I started with the iconic Storm Kloud bloodline; their working drive is incredible but they are also hilarious to live with and overall health & longevity is impressive. I am still Storm Kloud based but now include Istari & Sno Ridge.What makes your program special?
I breed for a total Malamute, one who can hopefully adapt to most situations and will hopefully enjoy a long life. I put a LOT of time into my puppies and really take pride in the versatility of my dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and white and gray and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary), Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Disease Panel, Polyneuropathy (NDRG1), Alaskan Malamute Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
