Meet the breeder

I'm Marie D., the breeder behind Qilin Chinese Crested located in Kentucky. Our dogs are part of our family and very loving. We selectively breed a small number of litters each year to preserve the Chinese Crested with emphasis on overall health, sound temperament, and excellent conformation. Puppies are raised in our home and are well socialized and handled daily. We would love to introduce you to your next beloved companion!

Q. & A. with Marie

  • Why did you start breeding?

Purposeful and ethical breeding is so important for the healthy progression of this breed. Chinese Cresteds are my passion, and I am devoted to doing whatever I can to preserve, protect, and improve these incredible dogs. Each litter is produced with a focus on health, structure, and temperament in mind.
  • What makes your program special?

I am a premier breeder of Chinese Crested puppies, and my involvement in the show world speaks to the standards that I breed my dogs by. I do not produce a litter unless my parent dogs are extensively health tested and are excellent representations of the breed standard. It's so fulfilling knowing that I made a positive contribution to their line and to the families who love them!
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include powderpuff and hairless coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Once I decided this was the breed for me, I began to look everywhere for the perfect puppy to bring home! I found Phoebe(Fly) I knew she was the one for me! The breeder was very easy to work with and even FaceTime called me so I could meet my pup before pick up!

We are so pleased with our puppy from Qilin Chinese Crested as well as the entire process. Marie was in contact throughout and they made the effort to meet me at the airport with Radagast (Kappa of Sushi X Kovu) on New Year's Day - so needless to say it was a very special day. We got Radley a little later in his puppyhood - 4 months old or so - he is smart, healthy, was well adjusted and clearly had been brought up with a LOT of love and care. He is a rascal and we love him so much. His coloring is amazing, we love watching him transform from chocolate to silver as we cut his hair (the evolution of his haircuts has been very fun). I feel very lucky that we somehow scooped him. I originally didn't think about a Powder Puff variety but we are in love with them now! He is a Minnesota snow monster in the winter! I highly recommend Marie and Qilin Chinese Crested.

Our puppies are amazing! Super friendly with great personality. Really appreciate the time and advice given as we were pairing two pups from the same litter. Helpful with tips and in recommending a driver for delivery. We love our guys and so does anyone who meets them!
