I'm Stephanie O., the breeder behind Raindance Ranch located in Valley Springs, CA. Our dogs are all thoroughly health tested and bred for superior working capability, stable temperaments, intelligence, and versatility. Our goal is to produce balanced dogs that have the grit and drive to keep up on the ranch but settle at the end of a long day as wonderful members of the family.

These dogs are my greatest passion and I strive to produce stable, driven, and balanced dogs suitable for work and home. Focused on health and unmatched drive and temperament.What makes your program special?
We do not breed to make money. We breed to make better dogs. We offer support and advice for the lifetime of the puppies we produce and stand by all of our productions for the entire life of the dog and beyond.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Miniature American Shepherd puppies include red tri-color, black tri, red merle, and blue merle. Belgian Malinois puppies include brindle, red, mahogany, black, and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Litter update on 03 Feb. •…The babies got to try their first taste of puppy food! We start them on Primal freeze dried raw and add in some home made fresh beef liver pâté and organic eggs from our chickens. They will be offered one meal like this a day but will still be nursing full time with mom

Litter update on 29 Jan. •…This week the babies are really starting to toddle and play 🥹 Ears are open and eyesight is getting a little better every day. Each day a new enrichment item is being placed in their box for them to investigate (today was an empty wipe container that makes a crinkle sound). As the puppies get better on their feet, we will add bigger items for them to crawl over and navigate through and a litter box with orchard grass pellets to encourage pups to potty away from their sleeping area. We will also begin to introduce different scents to them like lemon, basil, lambs wool, horse hair, alfalfa and lavender to stimulate curiosity and healthy brain development. Each pup currently gets their nails trimmed twice weekly and are handled daily. All of them spend individual time with me away from their litter mates for short periods of time every day 🥰

Program update on 28 Jan. •These babies are all growing up so beautiful 🥹

Litter update on 22 Jan. •…Last day of ENS for the pups at 16 days old. Eyes are all open now and pups are begging to toddle around. Gus has found his voice and is making sure everyone knows he is here! Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) involves brief, daily, gentle stressors (like different tactile, temperature, and positional changes) applied to young puppies (days 3-16) to stimulate their neurological system, aiming for improved stress tolerance, cardiovascular health, adrenal function, and disease resistance, potentially creating more resilient dogs. We raise these pups with Puppy Culture methods and this is the first part of a very thorough socialization process from the time they are born until they go home to their new families.

About RUBY
Ruby is the most wonderful soul. She is intelligent, beautiful and overall has such a lovely temperament. Ruby adores people and has never met a stranger. We take her with us to livestock auctions and she thinks every person walking by is there to see her! She LOVES to chase the sheep and is FAST. She is only 25lbs but she doesn’t know it and the sheep don’t seem to realize it either! Ruby loves to work but would just as easily be happy with a life riding shotgun in the side by side or being a lapdog. Ruby is balanced and stable and is a great combination of family pet and working dog and we are blessed to have her in our family and on our ranch

About STETSON
His registered name is High Class Cowboy and he definitely lives up to his name! Stetson is a little powerhouse underneath his gorgeous coat and is such a joy to have on our ranch. This guy does not know he is only 25lbs and pushes our sheep and goats as good as any of our bigger dogs. Stetson has enough charm and style to put ol Gus McCrae to shame. Stetson is balanced and very athletic and is a perfect mix of family pet and working ranch dog and we are blessed to have him on our ranch

RELLIK is a female Belgian Malinois. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Stephanie decided to make her part of their program. Stephanie has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

About ORKIN
ORKIN is a dual purpose police K9 with several live deployments. ORKIN is an absolute powerhouse at 90lbs and has extreme possession, big, full, powerful, crushing grips with nerves of absolute steel both in and out of drive. He is extremely calm and confident on the bite and has never bat an eye at any pressure or challenge we have put him up against. ORKIN has power, size and intensity balanced with clarity and intelligence. He is a true joy to have in the home. No anxious destructive behaviors and is a very social dog with a great off switch. 100% health tested and clear this boy has it all and in our opinion is what a true working dog should be. He passes his wonderful traits on to his offspring and has proven himself as an asset to the future of working dogs.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Dentition
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
