Meet the breeder

I'm Casi R., the breeder behind Ray Ranch, LLC located in Saluda, SC. We breed well-renowned championship bloodlines from V Paska Vom Salztablick and V Bomber Vom Wolfsheim.

Q. & A. with Casi

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got started breeding German Shepherds out of a deep appreciation for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. What began as owning and working with the breed quickly turned into a passion for raising well-minded, structurally sound dogs that could excel as family companions and working partners. Being involved in ranch life, I valued a dog that could think, protect, and work with purpose — and the German Shepherd checked every box. From there, breeding became a natural extension of my commitment to producing quality animals with strong minds and dependable temperaments.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding prioritizes proper structure: balanced angulation, strong toplines, solid movement, and overall breed correctness. This isn’t just about looks—it supports long-term soundness and durability. Champion lines are selected for clear-headed, confident, and reliable temperaments. That predictability matters whether the dog is destined for family companionship, sport, or work.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have plush coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

  • Temperament Test, Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
