Why did you start breeding?
My wife and I love Chocolate labs! We started with a blood line of chocolate labs with clear genetics and good hips and elbows. We have built a breeding business of high quality dogs and we do ALL THE RIGHT THINGS.. We do genetics testing, and OFA. We have some outstanding dogs. We love our dogs, treat them right and believe in- home kennels make the best, most versatile & well-adjusted dogs.What makes your program special?

Rita is the Granddaughter of our Precious Sweet Tea, and the Sire is Bear. Both sire and dams pedigrees are full of JH, SH, and MH titled dogs as well as Amateur Field Champion dogs. Rita is bred for moderate temperament and we are excited to see her progress in her future and have her first litter. We anticipate the puppies will be absolutely amazing dogs who will be able to go on to become hunters, therapy dogs, family dogs or whatever you would like to train them for.

Hip Dysplasia , Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test, Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

+4Rick is very knowledgeable of the breed and his dogs are second to none. We absolutely love our little Penny and in just 3 days she rings the bell to go outside and potty. I have 2 labs from Rick now. One is 6 years old and the newest one that I just picked up. He really cares about the quality and health of his dogs. I know every penny he makes from these puppies tonight bck into them and their care. We are so glad we found Rick’s Retrievers! I don’t think our puppy could’ve started off in better hands.
