River City Australian Terriers

Christina W.

Breeder of Australian Terriers

Meet the breeder

I'm Christina W., the breeder behind River City Australian Terriers located in Brandon, FL. Low-volume breeder of AKC registered/titled, health screened Australian Terriers on Florida's west coast alongside Johmanda ATs. I focus on temperament, structural soundness, health, genetic diversity, and correct hunting instinct. Breeding pairings are carefully considered and planned well in advance. I look forward to connecting with you!

Q. & A. with Christina

  • Why did you start breeding?

I began showing Australian Terriers under the mentorship of my future co-breeder, who was a 4-H leader at the time. After spending much time under her guidance and the guidance and mentorship of other breeders in my breed and others, I decided to take on the responsibility of developing my own breeding program to bring what I was looking for in the breed into the southeast, where ATs are scarce.
  • What makes your program special?

I focus on aggressive outcrossing to properly tested animals combined with a phenotypic approach to pairing choices, rather than solely relying on pedigree evaluation. Linebreeding is done carefully and strategically with the goal of keeping the COI as low as possible (in this case, as close to or under 15% as can be managed).
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
