I'm Deborah R., the breeder behind RoccRidge Hounds located in Spring Hill, FL. We breed carefully and thoughtfully, always putting the health and welfare of our dogs and puppies first. I am a member in good standing of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS) and the Sunshine State Rhodesian Ridgeback Club (SSRRC). I am also an AKC Breeder of Merit and participate in the AKC Bred with Heart Program. As a breeder/member I adhere to the code of ethics and breeding guidelines of both RRCUS and SSRRC.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I am passionate about this wonderful breed, doing my part to better the breed was the only option for me.
  • What makes your program special?

    Our dogs participate in AKC conformation, lure coursing, obedience and agility. We encourage our puppy owners to participate in the AKC STAR Puppy program and the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program. In our local community, I am an officer of the Hernando County Kennel Club.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
