I'm Maria A., the breeder behind Rocky Mountain Basenjis & Little Dog Farm & Grooming located in Cheyenne, WY. Our dogs are part of a breeding program that is founded from Takari’s Basenji puppies. Takaris basenjis has been focused on temperament as well as health! All the info can be found on OFA. We do not breed often because we are focused on participating in conformation/performance events with our dogs!
Q. & A. with Maria
Why did you start breeding?
I was a young girl learning to groom dogs and my manager made me go to the dog shows and come back with “reports”. She wanted me to learn about the proper structure of a well bred dog to enhance my grooming abilities. We didn’t realize it would lead to a lifetime of love for conformation and Basenjis!
What makes your program special?
My breeding program is a result of Teri Cuzzetto’s hardwork for over 20 years and as she continues, I will be able to continue her same ideals for the breed for even longer! We focus on temperament and health!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
