Q. & A. with Lucas

  • Why did you start breeding?

We've always loved dogs and grew up with dogs! Breeding has always been something we knew we wanted to do. Its been our dream to breed samoyeds because we fell in love with their friendly nature and great tempermants! They make awesome family dogs! Another thing that drew us to the breed, is just how fluffy and beautiful they are. They are such a snuggly breed!
  • What makes your program special?

We prioritize the health and well-being of our samoyeds. We use genetic testing to ensure our samoyeds are free from any hereditary diseases and conditions. Our goal is to produce the best offspring for families looking to welcome one of our puppies into there homes. We also socialize our puppies to help make great tempermants.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include white and biscuit and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Rocky Mountain Samoyeds was so helpful and communicative every step of the way to bringing our puppy home. We so appreciate all the answers to all of our questions and most of all, their perfect description of Teddy! It’s hard to buy a puppy out of state and not having a chance to meet the puppy first, but Lucas’ description of our puppy was spot on and you can tell they took excellent care of him. Especially with human socialization and toddler socialization which was so important to us! Teddy is adjusting fast at home, sleeping in a crate and doing great at potty training and basic commands. A testament to the environment he came from!

Working with Rocky Mountain Samoyeds was an easy and hassle-free process. I would highly recommend anyone who wants a Samoyed to work with them. From the first interaction, they were highly responsive with detailed responses, recommendations, and guidance. Being a first-time puppy owner, I was anxious and they helped assuage my fears by providing helpful information. The take-home process was smooth; I flew my puppy out from Utah to LA and we met at the airport. My puppy has had exceptional health so far and is growing up beautifully. No behavioral or any kind of issues as of today. On a separate note, advice for anyone looking to get a puppy: have tons of patience and find support to help you. I am currently single and raising my puppy by myself has been so much work. I can't overstate how much work it has been. It was a full time job the first 3 months and I honestly had some regrets not knowing if I could take on the amount of around-the-clock care. But with time, routine, consistency, and an abundant amount of patience, my puppy has matured beautifully and I absolutely love her. A lot of people are drawn to Samoyeds because they're beautiful dogs but please appreciate the fact you're signing up for a full-time job.

I had a wonderful experience with Rocky Mountain Samoyeds! From the very beginning, they were professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their dogs. They took the time to answer all my questions, provide detailed health records, and ensure that Maximus' now Koda was well-socialized and loved. He looks like a little polar bear, so Koda Bear 🐻 just made sense! Koda has the best temperament: affectionate, playful, and incredibly well-adjusted. It seems from Koda that they put a lot of care into their breeding program, prioritizing health and temperament. Additionally, we used their flight Nanny, who was very professional. I was nervous, but he put me at ease with text updates all through their journey to WI. It’s day 3, and we are more in love with this little guy!! Potty training is going as expected, and the snuggle puppy was a good purchase.

Lucas was awesome to work with. He stayed in close contact with us during the whole process and sent lots of pictures as our puppy grew. You can tell from all the pictures that the puppies had a great environment. Everything that was promised on Good Dog was provided. Our vet commented that he had done a great job with the documentation and dewormer. I was also surprised with all the great instructions on training, bathing and feeding that were provided. We are so happy we got a puppy through Rocky Mountain Samoyeds!
