I'm Lauri C., the breeder behind Sage Acres located in Idaho Falls, ID. We focus on the proper development of all our puppies because we know that each one is unique and deserving of undivided love and attention. Each puppy is bred, raised, and loved indoors to ensure health, happiness, and an overall well-rounded pup.
Q. & A. with Lauri
Why did you start breeding?
Since selling the goats we have a little extra time on our hands. With my husband being retired, he needed a companion that he could keep up with. Knowing that we enjoy the bassets laid back temperament, it was a natural step to start breeding.
We only have two dogs currently, and might add in a European female in the future.
What makes your program special?
We have selected our dogs for their temperament. Our dogs live in our home and are a big part of our family. Our granddaughters live next door and provide the stimulation and socialization with children that makes for a very well rounded puppy. As cute as a 6 week old puppy is, we prefer to wean at 8 weeks as it gives the new owner a confident puppy.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Lauri was wonderful. She lives on a ranch with all kinds of livestock. The puppies were clean, her home was clean and neat. I was jealous. She gave us everything my puppy would need. A blanket that had all my puppies smells on it. Which helped on the way home. Food, all the papers for her that I would need. We got along wonderfully. She was so helpful. I love my puppy, Lillypad!

Got this puppy after having one dog for almost 18 years. The socialization they get is top notch as well as the kennel training. Driving home would stop every other hour and she would happily hop out to roam around a rest stop for 10-15 minutes and happily go back in. Whined a lot to start until the kennel was moved closer to me then slept most all the way. Super happy and relaxed puppy!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
