I'm Alex P., the breeder behind Sage Ridge located in College Station, TX. As a breeder-veterinarian I have seen how amazing a good dog can be in a family home. Unfortunately, I have also seen the opposite as well, with puppies that don’t fit with their owner’s lifestyle. This mismatch can cause a lot of heartache and misery over time. I truly strive to produce well-rounded, balanced Border Collies that make exceptional family companions. Temperament is a combination of both genetics and the environment in which these puppies are raised. Our dogs and pups are raised in our home and are loved as family. We employ techniques from Puppy Culture and AviDog to raise our puppies to be resilient, confident, interactive, and loyal members of your family. Structure is very important as well, as it is the foundation for orthopedic health over time. This focus on structure and temperament allows us to produce high-quality show prospects as well. These are active dogs who can also succeed in a variety of competitive and sporting events, including agility, herding, and obedience.   • Why did you start breeding?

    I fell in love with Border Collies through my own dogs, who became both family and teammates in the show ring, on stock, and in therapy work. Breeding grew out of wanting to share the joy, intelligence, and companionship they bring to my life. My goal is to raise healthy, happy puppies who will be cherished members of their families, just like mine are.

  • What makes your program special?

    At Sage Ridge, our dogs are beloved family members first. I combine my veterinary background with a passion for behavior to raise puppies with careful health testing, early socialization, and enrichment. Each puppy is given the best foundation to grow into a confident, resilient, and loving companion perfectly matched to their future family.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include slate merle, black and white, blue merle, red merle, black, blue, red, white and blue, white and blue merle, white and red, and white and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Alex

Alex has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $3,000 - $3,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Includes AKC registration, the first round of vaccinations, deworming, and AKC Reunite microchip. Also includes a 26-month guarantee on hereditary hip/elbow dysplasia, temperament faults such as extreme shyness or snappiness, and hereditary defects such as PRA, heart murmurs, and epilepsy. This is a non-refundable deposit that lets us know that you are serious about taking the next steps to receive one of our puppies. We are excited to have you become a part of the Sage Ridge Family. Alex may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Alexandra was great to work with! She was friendly and had great information about our puppy. She also gave us a recommendation for a non-franchise board and train that has worked out wonderfully. We're very happy with our little pup, she came with a super strong foundation with her crate and socialization. She also came with a microchip, a go-home bag, and AKC registration, which was all really helpful. We also appreciate how responsible Alexandra is with her breeding. When we were looking, it felt like a lot of breeders are starting to fixate more on color than temperament, but we feel confident that Sage Ridge is more focused on the long-term health and happiness of their dogs.
