Oh the places Yeti and I go… ✈️🐾 We had such a fun trip flying to Baltimore, and once again my big boy showed exactly what a well-trained service dog is capable of. From the airport, to the shuttle bus, to the plane—Yeti calmly tucked himself into tight spaces, stayed engaged, and handled everything like a seasoned professional. Watching people realize that a large dog can be this composed, this responsive, and this reliable… never gets old 🥹 This is the standard we train for. Real-life exposure. Real-world obedience. Dogs that can confidently support their handler anywhere life takes them. Huge thank you to Southwest Airlines for the kindest captain and flight crew—we felt so welcomed every step of the way 💛 👉 If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to raise and train a dog like this—whether for service work or an exceptional family companion—I’d love to help guide you. 🐾 We offer: • Service dog prospect puppies • Foundation puppy training programs • Board & Train options • Online puppy training course Message me or visit 🌐 https://saltyraccoonranch.com to learn more. ✈️ Traveling with a Service Dog — Real Life with Yeti Taking Yeti through TSA at the Baltimore airport 🐾 A lot of people are surprised by how smooth this process can be when your dog is trained and prepared for it. Yeti kept all his gear on — SD vest, collar, leash, and even his boots. Here’s how we go through: I ask him to wait, and he holds position while I walk through the metal detector first. Once I’m cleared, I call him through — calm, focused, just like we practice. A TSA officer will then do a quick pat-down around and under his vest, and just like that… we’re on our way. Next stop → finding the dog potty area and heading to our gate ✈️🐕 Moments like this are why we train so intentionally. A solid foundation means your dog can confidently navigate busy, noisy environments like an airport without stress. Yeti handled it like a total pro 💙 #servicedog #servicedoglife #workingdog #germanshepherd #dogtraining #airporttravel #servicedogteam #tsa #dogtrainingtips

Clodovia’s Final Spa Day Before Her Next Chapter 💅🐾 If you could see the look she’s giving me… 😂 That “mom, please hurry up” face — but still standing perfectly like the good girl she is. Today was just a quick nail touch-up before something incredibly special. Clodovia is preparing to meet her new Military Veteran Owner 🇺🇸🐾 This has been such a meaningful, God-led journey from start to finish. We have donated Clodovia at no cost to a veteran in need, and she will continue her work as a full-time service dog. 🐾 Alerting to changes in blood sugar 🐾 Providing daily stability and support 🐾 Offering constant companionship and confidence 🐾 Being that steady partner through both the highs and the hard days Watching her step into this role is something I truly can’t put into words. It’s bittersweet… but it’s exactly what she was made for. This placement was done from the heart — and while we would do it again in a heartbeat, there are significant costs that go into raising, training, and preparing a service dog like Clodovia. If you feel led to support our mission and help us continue placing service dogs with veterans: Message us for details on how to donate or visit our facebook page Every donation helps us continue this work and change more lives — both human and canine. Thank you for loving Clodovia with us and following her journey. Now she gets to go be someone’s miracle 🐾✨ #SaltyRaccoonRanch #ServiceDog #MedicalAlertDog #VeteranSupport #Donate #GermanShepherd #WorkingDog #DogTraining #ChangingLives #SupportVeterans #ServiceDogLife

Powerhouse “P” Litter—-At the Vet with Gemma today! 🐾 Gemma was an absolute rockstar for her blood draw. I truly wish I could have recorded it because she was the definition of a perfect patient—calm, patient, and completely trusting. If there were awards handed out at the vet clinic, she would have walked away with “Perfect Patient of the Day.” 💛 This blood sample is being sent to the Veterinary School at the University of Wisconsin for a Canine Nomograph Test through CAVID Labs. A nomograph test measures Gemma’s antibody levels to diseases like Parvovirus and Distemper. Using those results, the lab can predict how much maternal immunity her puppies will receive through her colostrum (first milk). Why this matters for the puppies: • It allows us to predict when maternal antibodies will fade in the puppies. • It helps determine the ideal timing for their first vaccinations. • It reduces the risk of vaccine failure if given too early. • It also helps avoid unnecessary over-vaccination. Many puppies still have strong maternal antibodies for weeks after birth. If a vaccine is given while those antibodies are still high, the puppy’s immune system may not respond properly. The nomograph helps us find that sweet spot when the vaccine will actually work. Programs that use nomograph testing are able to make much more informed health decisions for their litters, and it’s one of the ways we work to give our puppies the strongest start possible. Now we wait for the results… and in the meantime Gemma gets extra snuggles for being such a good girl at the vet today. 🐾 #germanshepherds #germanshepherdpuppy #ultrasound #puppy

These special puppies are expected to arrive around April 13, 2026, and we couldn’t be more excited. Gemma is an exceptional mama and a fully trained working service dog with a heart of gold. The Marvelous “M” Pups Turned One Year Old!!!!! Yeti x Iris pups

Octavia (11 weeks old) was on fire today 🔥 Just look at this girl take on fetch, bring her ball back to place, and then problem-solve her way around a maze of boxes like a tiny furry genius. We even turned those same boxes into a puppy-sized tunnel — because why not make morning training feel like a mini-agility course? 😉 Watching her think her way through obstacles, choose the best path, and confidently return to task just makes my heart smile. These early exercises build: • Retrieval skills (hello future scent articles & service tasks!) • Focus and confidence in new environments • Body awareness + coordination • Problem solving & resilience when something new is introduced • Early fetch foundations — take, carry, return & place There’s just something magical about watching a young puppy figure things out instead of being shown every step. Give them the right challenges and they bloom. Way to go sweet Octavia — you’re growing into something impressive. 🐾✨

What makes you happy? For Iris, it’s simple… a little one-on-one time with her baby boy before he spreads his wings and heads off to his new home. 💛🐾 Tonight was their last private play session together, and goodness… it’s the sweetest thing to watch. Mama dogs know when their babies are getting ready to leave, and these quiet moments help both hearts settle just a little. Why we do this: 🌿 For Mama Iris: • It lets her ease into the natural “weaning” phase without stress. • She gets to interact in a calm, focused way instead of managing the whole wild daycare class at once. • Her confidence stays high—she sees her pups are brave, happy, and ready for their new adventures. 🌿 For the Puppy: • That last one-on-one play builds reassurance and security before leaving the litter. • He soaks up a final boost of confidence from Mom’s body language and calm leadership. • It supports smoother transitions—less crying, less stress, and a pup who steps into his new family feeling grounded and loved. These little moments might look small, but they’re a huge part of raising stable, emotionally healthy puppies. And honestly… they make my heart pretty happy too. 💛🐕✨ What makes you happy today? #puppy #germanshepherdpuppies #germanshepherdpuppy #puppytraining #puppylove #dogmom #dogmoments #dogbreed #puppylife #puppyvideos #sweetmemories #happydog #saltyraccoonranch #doglife #doglove

Tonight’s little project on the ranch: scent work with love built right in. 💛🐾 Before our Outlaw “O” pups head off to their new forever families, we ask each owner to send us an old T-shirt they’ve worn. And let me tell you… the puppies think they’re getting a brand-new treasure. They sniff it, nap on it, drag it around like a toddler with a favorite blanket, and—of course—enjoy a few tasty treats right on top of it so that “my human smells yummy” becomes a core memory. 😉 Why do we do this? ✨ Early scent recognition: Dogs experience the world through their noses. When your puppy meets you on pick-up day, that familiar “my person” scent helps them step into the moment with confidence instead of confusion. ✨ Smoother transition: Going to a new home is a big deal for tiny pups. Scent-soaked comfort gives them something familiar to anchor to through those first new sights, sounds, and snuggles. ✨ Bonding before you even arrive: It warms my heart watching them seek out “their” shirt during playtime. That little piece of you helps your puppy feel connected long before that first kiss on the nose. ✨ Better first meeting: When pups already know your scent, their nervous system settles quicker. They’re calmer, more trusting, and ready to soak up all the love you’re about to pour into them. It’s one of those tiny details woven into our puppy-raising program that makes a big difference in setting your new best friend up for success. And honestly… seeing the pups cuddle your shirts might just be my favorite part. 🥹💕 Get ready—your scent is already becoming their safe place.

🎯 Clicker Training Time! Our 8-week-old pups had a big day—each one worked one-on-one with us for their individual clicker training session before heading home! 🐾 We focus on the basics to build great communication and confidence from the start: ✨ Learning to sit and down on cue ✨ Practicing manding (that polite sit to “ask” instead of jumping) ✨ Getting comfy sitting in the stroller for future adventures These early lessons lay the groundwork for everything they’ll learn later—patience, focus, impulse control, and clear communication with their people. Clicker training helps each puppy understand, “Hey, I did something right!” — it’s one of the first ways we teach them that good choices make good things happen. 💛 (And don’t mind the wet puppy in the video—she was having a grand old time playing in the snow right before her training session ❄️😂) #puppytraining #clickertraining #puppyculture #servicepuppy #germanshepherdpuppies #puppylove #saltyraccoonranch #puppyraising #obediencetraining #puppydevelopment #8weekoldpuppy

I can’t say enough about Samme. We just brought home our girl “Medusa”. We had some moments wondering if the board & train program would be worth the extra time and money and let me say 100% YES IT IS! Medusa is fearless, confident, and social at 15 weeks old and I truly don’t think our outcome wouldn’t be as amazing if Samme didn’t help. She really knows what she’s doing! There is so much love and energy that goes into each of her litters and I know this is more than a “job” for her. Samme takes her time to socialize all of her puppies from the beginning up until they go home, she is also extremely informative and stays in touch so you always have her to come to for any help. During Medusa’s training we got to come out and bond with her as well as always staying in the loop with pics & videos during her sessions several days a week. I’ve been on a mission for the perfect GSD since my childhood dog passed almost a year ago, and went in trusting Samme during a vulnerable time and couldn’t be happier with my decision to bring home a SRR puppy. Medusa’ first 4 days home was the least stressful process ever and I truly believe it’s because of all the hard work and dedication Samme puts into each puppy and to better the GSD standard by her selective breeding. I’m so proud of the dog sweet Medusa is becoming and can’t wait for all she can accomplish in the dog sport world!! Thank you Samme for trusting Lukas and I with this perfect girl, we will be back in the future for sure!!♥️

I searched a few years for my service dog prospect. I knew I wanted a German Shepherd because I grew up with them. I interviewed several breeders and had almost given up because the fear of making the wrong choice and adopting a dog from a backyard breeder made me nervous. I came across a Facebook post and something that Samme said caught my attention. She was knowledgeable about servicedogs and she was a breeder of German Shepherds. I began messaging her and she was open to questions she helped me understand the process and what was important and her values as a dog breeder. You can tell she cares about her dogs and puppies. The best interest of the puppies and their future is a top priority and it shows. She is supportive of her customers every step of the way. I was blessed to come across a post that lead me to my best friend (green collar puppy from Timber 2022) and Service Dog in Training. I will continue to go to Samme at Salty Raccoon Rance for future prospects as she breeds well balanced and healthy puppies. You cannot go wrong with this breeder as she is Amazing!

Although this is my first full bred puppy, i have had and trained many dogs who ended up in rescue, and while i love helping rescue, i needed a well balanced puppy for service dog work, scent work and maybe even confirmation. I reached out to SRR and i am so happy I did! These puppies are raised with care and are socialozed and started on scent imprinting. As a professional trainer i can tell you that all the work that is put into these puppies make them a perfect choice for whatever you need in A German Shepherd Sog. My boy is amazing and so smart. There is no problem he cant figure out because they are given puzzles and introduced to obstacles immediately. My puppy only had 2 accidents in the house and they were both my fault. He is fearless and ready for any adventure. I will turn to SRR for all my dogs from now on!!!
