I'm Mary Anne S., the breeder behind Sand Dollar Westies of Delaware located in Newark, DE. My husband and I breed West Highland White Terriers - our favorite! We're proud members of multiple breed clubs. We own our breeding pair who are both Champions in conformation! Our babies have excellent temperaments, health, and attitudes. We breed to improve the standard. All are AKC/CHIC reg.
Q. & A. with Mary Anne
Why did you start breeding?
We bought our female from a long-time breeder in the state of Washington. She lit a spark in us and we started to attend local shows. We joined our then local Westie club, Valley of the Sun West Highland White Terrier Club, and got to know other Westie breeders. Our handler finished our then 13-month-old male in January 2020. Our girl finished her grand championship with Margery Good, May 2021.
What makes your program special?
We breed to the standard and have puppies that have great attitudes, health, and temperament. We spend the first three weeks 24/7 with our new litters before we move them out of our bedroom to a puppy play yard in our den. Here they learn independence and social skills from their mom. We handle them multiple times a day and encourage individual playtime with their mom. Litters are always AKC reg.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Price

“It is very expensive to show our dogs. Since our breeding pair are Champions, and our two females are now Grand Champions, we take that into consideration in pricing puppies. All are CHIC certified. We do ask for a deposit and do ask that prospective buyers fill out a questionnaire with us over the phone. Our puppies are vet checked, microchipped, and dewormed before going to their new homes.”
