Meet the breeder

I'm Katie T., the breeder behind Sand Hill Shepherds & Setters located in Blackfoot, ID. Our passion for these incredible dogs has driven us to provide the highest quality breeding and care. We take pride in our team's expertise and the exceptional services we offer. Our journey began with a deep love for German Shepherd Dogs and the desire to provide great quality family companions.

Q. & A. with Katie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I had it in my dreams to be a fabulous breeder for quite some time and put in a lot of years and research to find a program and curriculum I could get behind. When looking for my dog Valkyrie I realized what a struggle it was to find quality German Shepherds with health testing, temperament testing, and stock coat and traditional coloring.
  • What makes your program special?

We can do so much in the 8 weeks we have the puppies in our program to build a great foundation when entering their new homes. We have a daily curriculum we follow each and every day they're with us to ensure they get great care, gain confidence, & start to build a love for working with humans. The curriculum changes as they grow & we expose them to new items, textures, sounds, movement, & more.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and silver, black and tan, and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Katie

Katie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Katie partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

“Picking your puppy is done on go-home day. I schedule appointments based on your place on the reservation list. During that time you can either choose your puppy in person or over a video call. Prior to that, at 7 weeks old, I evaluate every puppy with the same test. I send the report for each puppy along with the video, through YouTube, so you can see each evaluation as well. Then you can choose which puppy would best suit your family. I am here for guidance and to answer any questions about each puppy but I'm never going to tell someone which dog they have to choose.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and $2,900 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Includes AKC registration, 2 year health guarantees, first round of vaccines administered by a vet and vet check. We also raise them with a great puppy curriculum: Socialization, scent, sound, & more.”

Contract & health guarantee

Katie may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Katie offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Katie directly.

All contracts are handled securely through Good Dog.
