Meet the breeder

I'm Kayla W., the breeder behind Sandhill Hounds of Nebraska located in Inman, NE. We feel it is extremely important that breeders are breeding to help the quality of this amazing breed. We treasure each puppy in our program and give them all the attention and care that we possibly can. We work hard so our puppies can leave our home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family!

Q. & A. with Kayla

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up around animals and have always been drawn to understanding how traits are passed down. Breeding started as a passion and quickly turned into a purpose—building something of my own through careful selection, learning, and improving each generation intentionally.
  • What makes your program special?

My program is built on selectiveness, not shortcuts. I focus on structure, temperament, and genetic pairing—not just trends. Every pairing is planned with long-term goals in mind to produce functional, correct animals that represent the breed well, not exaggerated versions of it.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Bloodhound puppies include liver and tan, red, and black and tan. Basset Hound puppies include black tan and white, red and white, mahogany and white, lemon and white, black white and tan, black white and brown, black brown and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Working with Kayla to get our puppy Barnabee was a wonderful experience!! He is healthy and spunky. Kayla met me half way which helped so much, coordinating was simple and she was always responsive to any questions I had.
