Meet the breeder

I'm Sandy B., the breeder behind Sandy’s Shepherds located in Rockbridge, OH. With a background as an R.V.T. I understand the strong human-animal bond. I am passionate about dogs and have owned GSD’s for 31 years with my first GSD acquired in 1993 and have had a GSD addiction ever since. The focus of the breeding program is quality and not quantity at an affordable price.

Q. & A. with Sandy

  • Why did you start breeding?

Prepared by reading books about dog breeding to incorporate the best breeding practices into my program. My first GSD was acquired in 1993 from my Aunt Mary who was a GSD breeder in Bedford, Ohio. After researching the topic and careful consideration I was ready to begin breeding so others could enjoy the gorgeous & loyal GSD as much as I do. Three generations of GSD’s live on my premises.
  • What makes your program special?

I am a German Shepherd enthusiast/breeder-hobbyist with a special interest in canine genetics. I care deeply about the well-being of my dogs, puppies, and the breed in general. Breeding practices include genetics, veterinary care , pre/post-whelp care, neonatal care, puppy socialization, newspaper & outdoor potty training and more as part of each and every litter. The dogs are my pride and joy 💜
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include plush and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include bi-color and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

After the passing of my Shepherd/ something mixed breed, I felt an emptiness that would not go away. I found Sandy, quite literally by accident. I didn't realize she was in Ohio and I was in NC (thanks Mr. Google). But having already selected a beautiful puppy, what can one do. I was traveling to eastern Pa. anyway. I have not regretted it. "Pink" is all the breed is supposed to be. Gorgeous, strong, attentive and smart! Thank you, Sandy.

Sandy was great and very knowledgeable. She took time and answered all my questions and addressed all of my concerns. We have had our puppy for almost 2 weeks now and Sandy has went above and beyond to make sure our new baby transitions smoothly. If you are considering a German Shepherd puppy Sandy would be the one you would want to get it from..

Sandy was very communicative throughout the entire process of getting our puppy. It is very clear she has a lot of love for her dogs and shepherds as a whole. We have only had our puppy for 4 days, but she has been amazing so far. She also has a Facebook page where you can keep up with her and all of her dogs and can share pictures/info about your puppy as they grow. If you are looking to get a German shepherd, I would highly recommend Sandy’s Shepherds!
