I'm Janet C., the breeder behind Secoya Whippets located in Painesville, OH. Welcome to Secoya Whippets. Whippets are a beautiful breed whether you are looking for a show dog or just a companion. I breed for good health, temperament and to improve the breed. Health testing is done on all dogs according to AWC recommendations.

Why did you start breeding?
I was involved with breeding horses in the past and decided after a few years with my Whippets that I wanted to share this lovely breed with others and improve my line at the same time. What a thrill when you hold newborn puppies in your hand and watch them grow into happy, healthy, well adjusted dogs. I consider it an honor to share that love with my puppy buyers.What makes your program special?
I put a lot of time and effort into picking the right dam and sire combination to insure the temperament, health, and conformation are the best that it can be. I work with the puppies every day following the Puppy Culture CD's and manual to give them the best start possible as the early weeks are so critical to instill confidence in a puppy. I screen my buyers to ensure my puppies are getting the best homes possible. I stay in touch with my buyers and am always there to help them well after the puppies have gone to their forever home. I always furnish them with an information packet on what to expect and what they will need for their puppy along with a gift bag of goodies including the puppies first martingale collar.Where do your breeding dogs live?

“The price includes the guarantee, AKC registration, first and sometimes second round of puppy vaccinations, a gift bag including an information packet on what to expect from your Whippet puppy, including health information, puppy items, food, and go to resources for Whippet coats, collars, and other items. All of our puppies are the same price regardless of pet or show, AKC registration is included.”

Janet has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Whippet Health Foundation Database, Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA), Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
