I'm CeAnne T., the breeder behind Shepherds of the Hundred Acres located in Hermitage, PA. The Hundred Acre Woods is an enchanted place where life-long friendships begin. We are dedicated to raising the bar for thoughtful breeding with optimal temperament. We do our best to produce puppies that I, as a dog trainer, would choose for myself. Healthy, well-rounded dogs.
Q. & A. with CeAnne
Why did you start breeding?
Roo! Yes the breeding female of the program. She is named after the young kangaroo from Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh character, Roo, is described as spirited, optomistic, energetic, curious, and courageous. These are also ways to describe a good German Shepherd. All things I see in the shepherds I choose to breed. All things I strive to produce in a puppy for you!
What makes your program special?
All dogs live in a home as a pet. They are health tested for DM along with passing OFA results for hip and elbows. We also require a job from all breeding prospects. This means all dogs are not just pets but working dogs. We think this is a great way to preserve the breed as a working dog. Stable and relaxed for companion life with enough drive to complete a working dog's tasks.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

About Roo
Roo is a demo dog and is currently working on AKC obedience titles. She is good with cats, dogs, children, and livestock. She has an amazing temperament that inspired me to replicate for others.
Shepherds of the Hundred Acres reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Shepherds of a Hundred Acres was a great partner. They were very thoughtful in matching us with the perfect puppy!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
