I'm Robyn D., the breeder behind Sherwood Basenjis located in Austell, GA. I have been heavily involved with Basenjis since 1991. I have produced AKC champions, lure coursing field champions, and produced dogs that have excelled in performance activities. I occasionally have a litter of puppies available and sometimes adults. I only have 1 litter at a time so that I can provide the best care for the puppies. Puppies are born and raised in my kitchen.

Why did you start breeding?
I read the book Goodbye, My Lady when I was a kid and I always wanted a dog like the one in the book. I was able to get my first Basenji in 1985 but sadly, she was a bad fit at that time in my life so I found her a better home. I waited until 1991 to purchase my first show prospect Basenji. I started showing and lure coursing and then I started breeding.What makes your program special?
I try very hard to produce Basenjis that owners can be proud of.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black tan and white and red and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

“All puppies will be AKC registered. All of my puppies are the same price; show, performance, or companion only. Deposits are not taken until after I have interviewed you. If you change your mind, deposit is non-refundable. If I cannot provide you with a puppy, deposit is refundable or it can be held for a future puppy.”

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Fanconi Syndrome, PRA, Basenji Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
