I'm Kala F., the breeder behind Show Me Great Danes and Basset Hounds located in Alton, IL. Midwest dog breeder, with focus on personal relationships with adopters, puppies raised in-home, and healthy breeding practices. At Show Me Great Danes and Basset Hounds we pride ourselves in producing happy, healthy, and quality puppies. Our Dogs are home-raised and are treated as members of our family. We complete full OFA health testing and all-allele color testing on our breeding dogs before breeding. All of our adults and puppies are well socialized with adults, children, cats, chickens and other dogs and training starts at an early age. We strive to ensure our puppies are well rounded and ready for their new lives by the time they leave our home. We use aspects of the puppy culture program, work on basic training and most pups are fully potty pad/ litter trained by the time they leave. We offer lifetime breeder support, from a veterinary driven breeding program run by a breeder who has worked in the field for over 18 years. We have a deep love for the Great Dane and Basset Hound breeds and know that you will too. Welcome to the family!

  • What makes your program special?

    I complete full OFA health testing on all of my dogs before they start breeding. I also do full color testing on my great danes. My puppies are raised in my home along side my other pets and they get top notch veterinary care, as I have been in the field for 18 years.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Basset Hound puppies include black tan and white, brown black and white, red and white, mahogany and white, lemon and white, black brown and white, and black and brown. Great Dane puppies include mantle merle, blue brindle, brindle, fawn, blue, harlequin, mantle, merle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Kala

Kala has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Puppy prices include a $800 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $3,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes genetic health guarantee, lifetime breeder support, AKC registration, microchip, dewclaw removal, age appropriate vetting (vaccines, deworming, fecal test, vet exam, flea/tick and heartworm prevention), and a very generous puppy kit. Holding fees will be non-refundable and apply to the final purchase price of the puppy. We accept several forms of payment. Holding fees never expire and may be transferred to any litter/puppy I produce. Remaining balances are due by 7 weeks of age and puppies go home at 8 weeks.”
