I'm Katie S., the breeder behind Silver String Swissies located in Rexburg, ID. We are striving to help preserve this beautiful breed while also providing each puppy with a family that fits their needs. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament, and breed standards. All breeding dogs are health tested and have been shown. Right now we have only one breeding girl as the foundation and beginning to our breeding program.

Why did you start breeding?
I have bred Holland Lop Rabbits since 2020 and I felt the call to continue with dogs. I have experience boarding dogs and discovered that I am skilled with working with animals, particularly dogs. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog has always been my favorite breed. Given the rarity of finding a good well bred Swissy in the States, I want to help preserve their breed and continue showing people how amazing they are.What makes your program special?
My program is special because each puppy raised in my home along with children, cats, rabbits, and other dogs. The puppies get exposed to all sorts of things right from the beginning. Whether you are wanting a farm dog, or a family dog, well, my home provides both!Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Katie
Katie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Katie partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
“I ask future puppy buyers to fill out an application helping me understand what a typical day looks like for you and what kind of temperament you are looking for. I match dogs based on your activity level, and exposure levels in the home. For instance, do you have kids? Do you have other animals? Will the dog be staying at home or traveling to work with you? Do you want a couch potato snuggle buddy or a get up and go for an adventure type of dog.”
Price
“Price includes ACK registration (limited without breeding rights); deworming; first round of shots; temperament testing; lots of socialization and exposure. The deposit secures that you will receive a puppy from the current litter. I will place the best matching puppy in your home.”

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Shoulder Osteochondrosis, Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
