I'm Maya J., the breeder behind Silvermoon Kennels located in Burke, VA. Silvermoon Kennels started in 2008 when we got our first Shiloh Shepherd from Tina Barber. We have been breeding ever since then and have learned so much over the years. Our love for the breed has only grown stronger. All of our dogs are health tested for known issues within the breed before being eligible to be bred.
Q. & A. with Maya
Why did you start breeding?
My husband and I were looking for a dog that we would both like. I found a breeder whom we visited and she had a female that she sold to us as a co-own and that started us down the path to breeding!
What makes your program special?
All of our breeding dogs have to pass their health certifications and we raise our pups in our home following the Puppy Culture method to help raise sound dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
