Meet the breeder

I'm Tami S., the breeder behind Smith Family Doodles located in Portland, OR. At Smith Family Doodles, our puppies are raised in-home and intentionally socialized from birth. We prioritize responsible breeding, comprehensive health testing, and early training foundations. Our focus is on health, temperament, and thoughtfully matching each puppy with the right family.

Q. & A. with Tami

  • Why did you start breeding?

Our journey began with our own beloved Goldendoodle, who quickly became the heart of our family. We fell in love with her joyful temperament, intelligence, and affectionate nature. As we learned more about responsible breeding, we felt called to thoughtfully build a small, intentional program — sharing those same qualities with other families in a responsible and structured way.
  • What makes your program special?

We prioritize comprehensive health testing, in-home raising, early neurological stimulation, and thoughtful, temperament-based matching. Each puppy receives individual attention, early training foundations, and meaningful socialization from the very beginning. We intentionally produce limited litters so we can focus on quality, connection, and guiding families through a well-supported transition.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include petite, miniature, and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, apricot, red, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Tami

Tami has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Tami partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

"We thoughtfully match families to the litter as a whole before guiding individual puppy placement. Reservations secure placement order, and final matches are made once temperament can be properly assessed (typically around 7–8 weeks). We prioritize health, temperament, size range, and overall lifestyle fit to ensure long-term success for both the puppy and the family. In-person visits are reserved for families who have placed a deposit, with virtual introductions available beforehand."

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $4,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.
Pay over time with Klarna.

"The price includes the guarantee, microchipping, Embark DNA panel, first round of vaccinations, deworming, socialization, a solid start on training, and puppy starter kit. Deposits are required to reserve a puppy (order received determines order of placement). If for some reason a litter doesn’t work out, we’ll forward the deposit to future litter."

Contract & health guarantee

Tami may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Tami offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Tami directly.

Since we've brought Nutmeg home, she’s been such a joy and a vital part of our family. She’s sweet, curious, cuddly, and full of personality. Nutmeg came home healthy, clearly well cared for and very loved, and we’re so grateful to Tami for giving her such a great start. Love love love the Smith Family Doodles! 💕
