Meet the breeder

I'm Evan S., the breeder behind Smithcoshepherds located in Wellington, CO. Our dogs are bread for intelligence, both our sire and our dam have champions in their bloodlines and are highly intelligent and well-trained. However, our number one priority is providing ethically bred GSDs to good homes at a fair price!

Q. & A. with Evan

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have lived on a ranch all my life breeding livestock. I rescued my youngest German shepherd from an awful puppy mill, after I discovered that situation I decided I wanted to be a better option for well bread GSDs, and at an affordable price. I encourage people to come check out the ranch before they place their deposit or purchase a puppy. Come see what we’re all about!
  • What makes your program special?

My program is special because we operate a much smaller program than most. We do not own a large number of German Shepherds and we will never have more German shepherds than we can give an amazing life too. Our number one priority is the well being of our adult dogs and the puppies that they have. We make sure every dog has the love and attention they deserve and we don’t charge you extra for it.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include long and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
