Brian S.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Brian S., the breeder behind Smith's Shepherds located in Hays, KS. We raise AKC German Shepherds that are health tested. We focus on and encourage health, temperament, and breed standard traits. I strive to make sure every owner has the ability to get the very best out of their puppy.

Q. & A. with Brian

  • Why did you start breeding?

I really didn't know if I wanted to get into breeding. My first female was left intact and I wanted to see how she worked in my household. After a year, I decided to add a male. My property was situated well for raising dogs so I decided to go for it. I did a fair amount of research, consulted a professional breeder and my veterinarian. In the end, everything worked out great!
  • What makes your program special?

My operation is small. It allows me to focus more closely on each dog. The puppies are raised in the house and get great exposure to humans and dogs as they grow. Breeding dogs are picked for health and temperament. All vet work is done by a local veterinarian.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
