I'm Dr. JC W., the breeder behind Snowlion Alaskan Malamutes located in Incline Village, NV. Snowlion Malamutes are the culmination of 40 years of experience as preservationist breeders producing good tempered, athletic dogs who excel in the show ring, on the trail, and as loving companions. We are well equipped to evaluate our pups & offer advice since adopting our first rescue mal in 1978.

Why did you start breeding?
We adopted our first rescue malamute in the late 1970s and were hooked. We purchased three dogs from a working show kennel in California, finished their championships. Since then we've had dozens of champions competing around the world, several Best in Show dogs, and dogs with multiple working-titles who are also our family pets.What makes your program special?
Our focus on longevity, careful selection of parent dogs who undergo extensive health screening, makes us a top, reputable preservationist breeder of Alaskan Malamutes. Versality is a cornerstone to our program--selecting for excellent temperaments for family companions & service dogs, as well as athleticism for working sled & show dogs. We are a preeminent malamute sledding kennel in the world.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Dr. JC partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.
“With nearly 50 years experience breeding malamutes our focus is on finding each pup the right home based on our evaluation and observation of individual pups and with consultation of prospective owners keeping mind their lifestyle, other pets in the home and presence of children. As breeders our job is to educate buyers so they understand why puppy energy levels and temperament should take priority over coat colors though most of our pups are 'middle-of-the-road' and highly adaptable.”

“Prices will vary by pedigree, champion parents. Type of breeding: Frozen/artificial insemination. And of course, by the individual pup. Deposits are taken to be placed on our list (once a pregnancy is confirmed) for male or female pups and refunded if not available. We focus on matching clients to each pup-energy levels, lifestyle.”

About Ch Tyson
Update: Tyson finished his AKC Championship on 5/13 winning back to back majors at an Alaskan Malamute Specialty show. He's been undefeated in six back to back shows and is now a Champion of record. Tyson is a quirky, funny dog, an only child conceived by artificial insemination from our frozen Grand Champion being shown in Asia. He got his name because after he was weaned, he would only eat Tyson chicken strips and nuggets. Thank fully that stage only lasted a few months. Tyson is incredibly smart, he completed two 6 wk obedience classes by 4 months. He's been running on our sled team and will be out in the show ring this spring. Beautifully put together, with a thick full coat, we think he'll finish his championship soon. Update: Sunday May 2. Tyson won 4 shows in a row and is making great progress on finishing his AKC championship.

About Amelia
Amelia is an affectionate, cuddly girl. She likes to hang out with her 'twin' sister, Hazel. The two look so much alike that most people can't tell them apart. Amelia also sailed through her obedience classes, and was started in the show ring where she took Reserve Winners to our older girl Lotus. She is OFA prelim good, DNA cleared of breed relevant conditions just like Tyson. Her sire is one of our top producers from the 1990s: Ch Snowlion Lone Ranger WTD, OFA excellent, eyes clear. Her dam was an import from Europe, also OFA excellent, DNA cleared. This was a very special frozen litter and we kept both Amelia and her sister as they are stunning and should finish their championships next year.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
