Meet the breeder

I'm April N., the breeder behind Spartan German Shepherds located in Missoula, MT. Spartan is dedicated to raising world-class working line GSDs. Our program focuses on producing loyal, confident, & well-socialized dogs that thrive as loving family companions while maintaining strong protective instincts & working ability. Bringing Europe's best to your backyard!

Q. & A. with April

  • Why did you start breeding?

Spartan was conceived in 2010, following a home invasion that put our family in extreme danger. I purchased our first stud, Blitz, shortly thereafter. He was large, dark, and very intimidating, but had a lover's soul and bonded to each member of the family tightly. Blitz turned heads wherever he went, and with the purchase of our first dam, Taija, Spartan Shepherds was born.
  • What makes your program special?

We believe there is no better dog to be man's best friend & protector. This belief has fueled our commitment & passion to raise truly incredible dogs, & bring Europe's finest to your home. Our dogs will impress & inspire, combining intelligence, health, desire to please, loyalty, fearlessness, courage, athleticism, & beauty into one incredible, remarkable experience: Beauty, Power, & Soul!
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock, plush, and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, black, and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
