Meet the breeder

I'm Sandy A., the breeder behind Sprague's German Shepherds located in Saint Matthews, SC. We are devoted to raising old-fashioned type German Shepherd Dogs with straight backs and stable temperaments. There is more to producing amazing puppies than just careful selection in breeding. We strive to produce perfection in the way we nourish, train, and enrich our puppies' lives from birth. We hope you enjoy looking around our page here and our website and getting to know about us, our dogs, and the unique way we raise our puppies.

Q. & A. with Sandy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got my first German Shepherd when I was just 14 years old and even at that early age, I knew that German Shepherds were the breed for me. Rose was her name and she was the perfect example of an old-fashioned German Shepherd and the reason why I fell in love with the breed and specifically the old-fashioned type due to their sturdy structure and fantastic, family-oriented temperaments.
  • What makes your program special?

We want to produce puppies that make the best family companions but are still capable of doing things like search & rescue, therapy & service work, tracking, competition obedience, agility, and more. Our main goal is to produce German Shepherds with sound temperaments and good health. They are intelligent, eager to learn, happy dogs that want to be with you, please you, and protect you if need be! We are fully dedicated to improving the German Shepherd breed now and for many years to come.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, black, isabella, black and tan, blue, liver, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
