I'm Bonita A., the breeder behind Stargirl Bernese Mountain Dogs located in Fountain, NC. I am a veterinarian and have owned Bernese mountain dogs for 32 years! I have imported most of my dogs from outstanding European kennels and I focus on producing healthy long-lived dogs with excellent temperaments. I health tests all my dogs and do temperament testing on puppies to help families choose the perfect dog for their family. I provide a health guarantee and life-long support. Visitors are welcome. All my dogs live in my house, and are never rehomed. Puppies are raised in my bedroom and have extensive socializing. Many of my puppies have become service dogs as they are quite intelligent and eager to please.

Why did you start breeding?
My second Bernese came from an excellent kennel and was the most incredible girl. She had perfect behavior and was loved and admired by everyone who met her. I wanted to get a special puppy from her and found a wonderful champion male to breed her with. I ended up keeping two!!
What makes your program special?
My dogs come from some of the best European kennels and have generations of health and temperament testing. They are showing outstanding health and longevity
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
