Meet the breeder

I'm Anna B., the breeder behind StarStruck Keeshonden located in Ennis, TX. I hold temperament at the highest regard as Keeshonden are known for being outgoing, docile, and friendly. The AKC recommends Keeshonden as being one of the best breeds around small children, and I do not take that statement lightly. Before I would even consider breeding a dog, it must meet that standard. Keeping the standard in mind, I strive to produce the correct type and structure. Those that seek pets might not realize how vital the proper structure is, but if the dog is built correctly, it will have fewer issues with arthritis and other bone or joint problems. Dogs that have the correct structure will have the stamina for what anyone might want to pursue with their dog. Agility, jogging companion, hiking buddy, all require physical exertion, and the dog with the proper build will be able to perform those tasks comfortably. So my goal is to first produce healthiest dogs I can with the best temperaments, type, and beauty this breed is known for. I want to influence the future of the Keeshonden breed for the better with health, type, and temperament.

Q. & A. with Anna

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started out just wanting to show Keeshonden. A wonderful breeder and mentor trusted me with a very nice multiple group winning Grand Champion to start my showing carrier and boy did he started it all! We have accomplished so much together and our bond is unlike anything I have experienced with a dog. ND flamed my passion and love for the magnificent Keeshonden breed. This special breed of dog is so incredibly unique. ND is an exceptional example of the breed. He is often found loving on children and adults alike. After showing for 7 years and gaining insight into structure and temperament and being mentored from one of the founding KCA members with 50 plus years of experience, I felt I was ready for my first litter.
  • What makes your program special?

I hold temperament at the highest regard as Keeshonden are known for being outgoing docile and friendly. Keeshonden are recommended by the AKC as being one of the best breeds around small children. Before I would even consider breeding a dog, it must meet that standard. Keeping the standard in mind I also emphasize correct type and structure.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
