I'm Jenifer S., the breeder behind Steadfast Farm (SFF) located in Tuttle, OK. Steadfast Farm is committed to producing healthy, well rounded Basenjis, bred to the standard for quality, type and movement. That being said, we feel it is equally important to produce puppies that make exceptional companions. This is why we strive to set our puppies up for success from the very beginning by incorporating the Puppy Culture protocols and enrichment opportunities with all our litters.

Why did you start breeding?
I have owned Basenjis since 1991. My first Tri bitch was bought as a pet. We ended up at Westminster?! I have been hooked ever since and absolutely love purposely bred purebred dogs. I breed because I want to preserve the Basenji breed. I have been extremely fortunate to have been encouraged and mentored by some of the best Basenji breeders in the world.What makes your program special?
A few things set my program apart. One is my many years in the veterinary profession and my deep understanding of the importance of producing a healthy, well-socialized puppy capable of living a good long life as a member of someone's family. To that end, I raise my puppies with Puppy Culture and that hands down sets my puppies up for success and sets my program apart from those that don't.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and white, tri-color, red and white, and brindle and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Price
“The price includes puppies raised with Puppy Culture, the puppy's AKC registration, AKC Reunite, their microchipping and at least 2 sets of vaccinations. All puppies are the same price regardless of whether they are going to a show home or companion home. Deposit is nonrefundable but will carry over to the next SFF litter.”

Litter update on 02 Feb. •…Crate training has begun for the Whodunits and they are ⭐️s!! Mama Kitty is an excellent role model. At Steadfast Farm, we work really hard to develop a positive Conditioned Emotional Response (CER) to the crate for each puppy so that you don't have to. The puppies eat in their crates. They nap in their crates. They get the very best treats, meaty bones, long lasting chews and stuffed Kongs in their crates. By the time they leave us, we have built huge value into being crated. It will behoove you to build on our hard work. A bored Basenji and/or an unsupervised Basenji puppy left to his or her own devices will invariably make poor choices... to the detriment of your furniture, shoes and other belongings. Ask us how we know?!🫣 Repeat after me-- Management IS training. MANAGEMENT is training. Management is TRAINING. MANAGEMENT IS TRAINING. MANAGEMENT IS TRAINING!🎉

Litter update on 12 Jan. •…Mina (GCHB SFF Signet Gamine 🏇) and Birdie (GCH SFF's Signet Songbird 🐦) checking on the Grands and Great-Grands! Both are/were exceptional moms. Both took in bonus puppies whenever needed. Kitty has only had her 5 to deal with, but she has certainly stepped up to take her place as a star in the whelping box. The Whodunits are 3 weeks old today! To celebrate they got their real puppy collars and their nails done. Tailor easily finished his AKC Championship and his achievements include Hound Group placings from the classes and being named Reserve Winners Dog at the 2024 Basenji National Specialty. He made short work of his Championship title by finishing in just 2 weeks of shows. His first litter was most impressive as one stunning Tri Color puppy is already making a name for herself in the show ring by breezing through her Championship, with Hound Group placements no less, at only 7 months old?! We expect big things from Emerson not only as a sire but also as a Special when he makes his run for his Grand championship!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
PRA, Basenji Type, Fanconi Syndrome
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
