Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Still River Saints located in Connecticut. We breed selectively with a focus on Health, Temperament and Conformation. Saint Bernards are very large working dogs with specific needs. We thoroughly screen all potential homes. Our dogs are well socialized and live with children in our home. We actively shown in AKC Conformation and participate in breed events around the Northeast US.

  • What makes your program special?

    We provide lifetime support to all of our puppies and their families. All of our Saints are sound in temperament and live with children. Temperament is hallmark for us. We stand behind any puppy we produce and want them to excel in their homes. References are always available from previous puppy families.

Still River Saints reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Saint Bernards.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, Juvenile Laryngeal Paralysis & Polyneuropathy (JLPP), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
