I'm Katherine K., the breeder behind Straylight GBGV located in Frankfort, KY. We're a small hobby program focused on quality, content, fit, and functional Grand Bassets in the United States. We see our dogs as pets first and foremost, and pride our program on having well-rounded, quality, confident dogs that are happy in modern life. While we enjoy GBGVs for their adaptability, it really makes it all worth it to watch others discover life with the breed for themselves!
Q. & A. with Katherine
Why did you start breeding?
We started with performance sports with two of our older (non-GBGV) dogs about a year after we started dating, and it just seemed to escalate from there. There is something special and addicting watching our dogs come to life when given the opportunity to do what they were naturally bred to do—and that was what got us hooked. We decided we wanted to work to preserve the instincts of this breed.
What makes your program special?
Straylight GBGVs are special for several reasons. Not only are you purchasing and supporting a rare, wonderful breed--but you are also joining a support system that is there for all of our puppy buyers. We have the support of mentors in this breed that have been involved for decades, but we also raise our puppies with so much care and love to be the best companion and modern dog they possibly can be.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
