I'm Nancy S., the breeder behind Success Portuguese Water Dogs located in Beatrice, NE. We breed and show top-quality Portuguese Water Dogs and Berger Picards. Our heavy involvement in the show world speaks to the standards that we breed our dogs by. We built our program with care and intention in every step, and we care deeply about the health and wellbeing of this magnificent breed.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We do not breed, just to produce to just have litters. We only breed, when there is a specific breeding, for quality dogs, that I would like to produce for show purposes. In 57 yrs of showing dogs, we have over 160 AKC Champions. Our dogs compete in Confirmation, Obedience, Agility, Rally, Water Trials, etc. We are guardians of the breed to protect the health, longevity and future of the bred.

  • What makes your program special?

    We complete all required health tests on our dogs at 2 yrs of age to insure they pass all clearances required by our Breed Clubs prior to breeding. Puppies are temperament tested at 7 wks. Our puppies will have 2 or more sets of vaccinations, fecal checked & wormed, dewclaws removed on PWDs, microchipped and complete health check prior to going to their approved forever home at 8 - 10 wks.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Portuguese Water Dog puppies are black and white. Berger Picard puppies include brindle and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
