Meet the breeder

I'm Jamie M., the breeder behind Sugar Hills Basset Hounds located in Arkansas. We raise our dogs with love in our home. We have high expectations for our pups and strive to pair each one with a loving family. We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!

Q. & A. with Jamie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started caring for and raising dogs as a child. We owned a mid-sized kennel and raised Labrador Retrievers. Eventually we improved our bloodlines enough to make donations to organizations such as Ducks Unlimited. Being involved in the process definitely helped lay the foundation for my current breeding program.
  • What makes your program special?

Sugar Hills has incorporated things into our breeding program that I feel makes a well rounded breeding pair and puppies. We use a nursery in our home for whelping to encourage early socialization and to give optimal comfort to the dam. We encourage free range play on the farm so breeding pairs are socially adapted to other dogs and farm animals.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
