I'm Bridgit A., the breeder behind Super Nova Shilohs located in Fargo, ND. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with this breed. These are great dogs and I want to give them all a great life. These dogs are incredible and I want to better the dogs for future generations. I spent months researching breeds, ethical breeding practices, genetics, and general animal husbandry.
Q. & A. with Bridgit
Why did you start breeding?
I was impressed with the due care put into breeding by my breed club I got my first Shiloh Shepherd from. I realized it was a program I could get behind. Coming from a farming family, animal husbandry is in my blood. Stepping into breeding was a big step but I had a ton of support from our group!
What makes your program special?
We put an exceptional amount of due care into our breeding decision. Our gene pool is stewarded by Breed Wardens who assist breeders in navigating these choices. Additionally, I adore the Puppy Culture program.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and tan and black and cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Super Nova Shilohs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Shiloh Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
