I'm Alana W., the breeder behind Sweeter Than Honey Golden Retrievers, LLC. located in Charles City, VA. We strive to breed healthy puppies with great temperaments that are well socialized and ready to excel with their new family when they leave our home. In an effort to improve the health and longevity of our lines, our girls have passed all health tests recommended by the GRCA.

Why did you start breeding?
Dogs have always held a special place in our hearts & home. We have had several different breeds over the years, but our first golden, Honey, inspired us to breed superior golden retrievers so that others can share in the pleasure of having such a wonderful companion! Our breeding program carriers her name and she will forever hold a place in our hearts.What makes your program special?
We are a family-run breeding program. All of our decisions are made with the best interest of our dogs and the breed that we love in mind. Like humans, golden retrievers have different energy levels & talents. While we enjoy water sports and hiking with our girl Winnie, leisurely walks & therapy training are Allie's jam. We've got pups that can meet any goals you strive for!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Rhett is a proven, 5 year old Senior Hunter stud who loves his job just as much as he loves his people! When he's not in the field doing his job, he loves to play with other dogs (especially puppies) and cuddle up with his Lamb Chop. He has a strong drive to work and retrieve, but loves to cuddle up with the family at the end of the day. He is intelligent, driven, and brave. Rhett has his Working Certificate, Excellent. He also has one pass in Rally Novice and is 4 passes away from earning his Master Hunter title.

I communicated solely with Alana about STH and bringing home one of their puppies from the most recent litter. Alana was extremely responsive, helpful, kind, and gave me so many updates in the weeks leading up to bringing home our puppy. We are already working with a trainer to help us adjust with our pet and she has stated multiple times how well bred and healthy our pup is. Our veterinarian has made the same remarks. She was impressed by STH note on visiting the vet after bringing home our dog, how adjusted our puppy seemed, and most importantly how healthy. STH does amazing work from the time the puppies are born until it’s time for them to go home. I think this creates really great dogs they are confident and easy to train. I am already trying to figure out when I can bring home another STH golden.
