I'm Miranda T., the breeder behind Tberry GSD located in Commodore, PA. We breed with a focus on health and temperment while maintaining the beauty and versatility of the German Shepherd.
Q. & A. with Miranda
Why did you start breeding?
My best friends growing up were German Shepherds. As an adult, I've developed a love for training and raising these amazing dogs. They are my right hand on my little farm and my constant companions in each new adventure.
What makes your program special?
My dogs are temperment tested by the GSDCA, AKC, and the SV. We health test extensively, earning the OFA CHIC designation, as well as performing additional genetic testing. I show my dogs the German SV conformation ring, ensuring that we continue to breed to the original standard. We also show in a variety of sports such as obedience, rally, agility, lure coursing, scent work, etc.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Tberry GSD reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Brucellosis, Dentition, Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
