I'm Heather C., the breeder behind Thanagar Mudi located in Alamance County, NC. We are a small, home-based kennel. Our focus is breeding healthy, functional Mudi dogs with stable temperaments. Our mission is to promote, protect, preserve, and improve the Mudi breed. We do this through careful selection of breeding stock, and proving them through competition and health testing. Our dogs compete in numerous disciplines, including herding, agility, disc, dock diving, and conformation. We look forward to connecting with you!
Q. & A. with Heather
Why did you start breeding?
We had been involved in dog rescue and training for many years. We took the leap into "Mudi" waters in early 2020 after meeting dogs at local herding trials. We fell in love with them from the very beginning, and it has been an absolute joy of a journey working with these incredible dogs! It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others.
What makes your program special?
We take our role as responsible preservation breeders very seriously. We are stewards of the future of the breed, so we are careful to always have ethical breeding practices. This includes proper health testing, intentional breeding for specific traits, and raising our puppies with proper socialization. We are happy to tell you more about what life with a Mudi is like and how they will not only enhance your daily life, but exceed your expectations!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
