Meet the breeder

I'm Danielle S., the breeder behind The Noodle Nest located in New Port Richey, FL. We are a small program with only one breeding pair. They are our family dogs that sleep in our bed and get the best care possible. I believe that giving puppies a great start is crucial for long term health and development. That’s why I only use premium puppy food, and take so much extra time planning their setup. Every detail that goes into raising them is intentional. We love going above and beyond to raise the most well adjusted puppies! The parents are DNA tested for genetic disease, and have their OFA basic cardiac and OFA patellas. They both also have several champions in their pedigree.

Q. & A. with Danielle

  • Why did you start breeding?

I actually started my journey fostering for several local dog rescues. My specialty was taking in the stray pregnant moms. I whelped 6 litters for different rescues before I ever even considered intentionally breeding. I feel like this gave me so much perspective on breeding ethics. None of my dogs will ever enter the shelters because they are bred for quality and I stand behind them.
  • What makes your program special?

ENS, desensitization, crate training, and potty training starting at just 3 weeks! Healthy potty habits start in the whelping box. I find that pups that are raised without these habits end up so much harder to potty train over time. We start early so that the new owners have an easier time with it.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Good level

The Noodle Nest reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Italian Greyhounds.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

My husband and I recently lost our 14-year- old Chiweenie to cancer. For my husband the pain of losing him was not near as bad as not having his "lap buddy" anymore. We did research on many dog breeds and decided that an Italian Greyhound would best fit our lifestyle. I figured finding a reputable breeder would be a challenge. I was pleased to come across the Good Dog app and even more pleased when I came across Danielle's post. We were impressed at what we read. I began messaging her and she responded almost immediately with answers to my questions and sent me helpful information. After reserving our puppy, Danielle kept us posted on his growth and progress. She started using the name we chose for him so that he was used to it by the time we picked him up. She often sent us pictures and videos. She also agreed to start feeding him the puppy food which we were planning on using when he was ready so he would be used to that too. We loved that she raised the puppies in her home and they were socialized with children. She also noise desensitized them and started potty training them on a grass pad. All things I never would have thought about but it made his transition into our home easier. We've had Ryker for a week now. He came into our home well adjusted and comfortable with us. We can't be more pleased!!!

Working with Danielle to bring home my Italian Greyhound, Juniper, was an absolute dream from start to finish! From our very first interaction, Danielle was incredibly organized, attentive, and responsive. She truly went above and beyond, providing me with all the information I needed—and more—to feel completely prepared. Her support throughout the process gave me so much confidence stepping into everything. You can instantly tell how much care and dedication she puts into her puppies. Juniper arrived friendly, wonderfully socialized, and was already peeing outside on the grass! I couldn't have asked for a better experience or a sweeter new companion. If you are looking for a dedicated, supportive, and top-tier breeder, I cannot recommend Danielle highly enough! Thank you for making this such a beautiful experience!
