Thornock Shepherds

Nathan T.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Nathan T., the breeder behind Thornock Shepherds located in Athol, ID. Qualities that include, steady nerves, courage, high play drives, speed, agility, slower growth rate, joint health, longer leaner bodies, dark pigmented coats. Our litters typically produce all black and sable black coats.

Q. & A. with Nathan

  • Why did you start breeding?

We got into breeding after having our Czech line German Shepherd dog Cindy for a few years and we fell in love with her. We wanted to continue the specific traits found in the import lines of the Czech border kennel dogs and those also of the import German lines. Traits like even temperament, bone, and joint health, slower growth, dark pigmentation, and very low inbreeding coefficient.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is special because it's a family affair. Mom and the pups are cared for in our home with the help of the whole family. The pups become a part of the family and though it's hard to see them go, we take comfort in the fact that we can choose who they go to and know that their forever families will love and treat them as we would.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
